Nothing is more inspiring than learning from a master who loves his craft. If you love food (you are human, aren’t you?), you’re in luck: Buffalo is home to Frenchie, a classically trained French chef who holds cooking classes for everything from French onion soup to chocolate bonbons. He could probably teach a penguin to fly, so fear not if you’re kitchen-averse

Learn how to cook

Some of us didn’t inherit Grandma’s cooking skills and it shows…but before you throw your smoke detector out the window, first try booking a class at Pastry by Camille! Come and learn how to prepare delicious dishes like French Onion Soup, Boeuf Bourguignon, and Filet Mignon & Gratins Dauphinois! Bake crusty baguettes and flaky croissants, or train your hands to whip up romantic desserts like crepes, Galette des Rois, Chocolate Bonbons and Macarons! Just remember: it’s never too early to start preparing for Valentine’s Day!

You can find the class schedule on the Pastry by Camille website!

Located at 1416 Hertel Ave in Buffalo. Master Classes typically take place Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings from 6 to 8. For more information, please visit www.pastrybycamille.com or call 716-551-0500.

Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens has a huge assortment of offerings for the general public, including learning some gardening skills

Get in touch with nature

As much as all of us would love to stop and smell the flowers right now after a busy holiday season, it’s still cold in Buffalo Niagara! One great way to ward off those wintertime blues is to pay a visit to the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens. Designed after the Crystal Palace in England, the museum hosts a wide assortment of horticulture, including palms, tropical fruit trees, bamboo, bonsai, cacti, succulents, ivy, carnivorous plants, medicinal plants, begonias, orchids and so much more! Also be sure to check out some of the amazing upcoming events such as Lumagination, Kids Day, and Tuesday night yoga. Talk about revitalizing!

Located at 2655 South Park Avenue in Buffalo. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $12.50/Adult, $11/Senior, $11/Students, $7/Kids (ages 3 to 12), and Free for Children 2 and under. For more information, please visit www.buffalogardens.com or call 716-827-1584.
