Want to improve your golf game or just looking to hit the greens for a fun afternoon? Buffalo Niagara has golf courses for everyone.

We (May Not) Know (Yet) What You’re Doing this Summer

Do you know what the best way to get better at golf is? It’s not watching the PGA. It’s not playing Tiger Woods PGA Golf. It’s not even drinking Arnold Palmers until your head hurts. There’s just one thing that’ll make you a better golfer, and that’s getting on the green, heading down to the golf course, and putting in some good old-fashioned work. There is absolutely positively no substitute. So, if you’re looking to improve your game by leaps and bounds, or you’re just looking for a good place to get some swings in, this piece will have you covered on some of the best public golf courses Buffalo Niagara has to offer. Let’s get started!

Delaware Park Golf Course

Delaware Park Golf Course

You know Delaware Park is Beautiful, right? It’s like something out of a romance novel. It’s also so big that it’s like Buffalo’s version of Central Park. But did you know that inside that giant mass of land, we Buffalonians call Delaware Park, is a golf course? Yes, you can play 9 or 18 holes in this historical landscape, and if it tickles your fancy, you can join one of the many Delaware golf leagues. All and all seems like a hole-in-one to me…. (I’m sorry, and I promise this will be the only one on the list to reach this level of cringe).

Diamond Hawk Golf Course

Diamond Hawk Golf Course

Let me know if this sounds good to you: a 7,058-yard, par 72 public course, country-club-quality-atmosphere, stacked-sod bunkers with a mix of doglegs and direction changes, spectacular greens, tree-lined winding design, and is perfect for giving even an experienced golfer some trouble (and an amateur something to work towards)?

Sound good? Then Diamond Hawk Golf Course is for you.

Some additional features of Diamond Hawk are an 18-hole championship golf course, five sets of tees, and brand-new lithium battery powered golf carts. So if you’re looking for a challenge on a beautiful course with many an amenity, head on over to Diamond Hawk Golf Course.

Hideaway Golf and Sports Center

Hideaway Golf and Sports Center

I’m going to come clean with you guys on this one: Hideaway Golf and Sports Center is a pretty nuts and bolts golf course. It’s more geared towards the family (they have putt-putt, so that says it all) and working on your individual drive skills. If you’re looking for a course to test your skills significantly, this may not be the one for you. However, if you’re looking for a place to hammer down your fundamentals and improve your game through a mix of self-discipline and repetition the way only nuts and bolts golf courses can do, then Hideaway Golf and Sports Center may be just for you.

Glen Oaks Golf Course

Glen Oaks Golf Course

Created by renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, the Glen Oaks Golf Course is so beautiful they actually do weddings on it (well, not actually on it, that would be a mess to coordinate with golf balls flying while people are giving their vows, but you get the idea). Apart from the course’s jaw-dropping beauty, it’s rated 4 1/2 stars by Golf Digest. It has GPS-equipped Club Car golf carts, so you can never get lost while going to another hole or searching for a golf ball, a large practice area with natural grass, a practice tee and large practice green with putting and chipping areas so you can get used to playing on the real green or the fake one.

So with practice, you can theoretically be a true terror in whatever course you choose to play on.

All and all, the Glen Oaks Golf Course combines the serene beauty that golf can offer with a top-notch course that has all the fixings. There is also a full-service golf shop just in case something happens while you’re swinging away. So it’s plain to say that if you choose Glen Oaks to play on, you made a very fine choice indeed!

Deerwood Golf Course

Deerwood Golf Course

Established in 1975, Deerwood Golf Course is a 27-hole municipal golf course located in North Tonawanda, New York. The course is adjacent to Tonawanda Creek and is home to many deer who roam freely in the woods and fairways. So continuing with the theme of serene golf courses (this wasn’t planned. It just worked out that way, you all know I’ll never lie to the reader),

Deerwood Golf Course is another awe-inspiring golf course. Imagine seeing a deer gallop in the distance as you take care of business on the green. (Hopefully, the deer won’t interrupt your business proceedings. They’re known to do that). The course is maintained and manned through the city’s Youth & Recreation Department so you know whatever mess you leave behind will be cleaned up by caring young folk (so please try not to make too much of a mess because you know some 16 year old looking to boost their Community service hours is going to take care of it for you).

So, if you’re into nature, the beauty of a golf course. as well as golf the game itself, check out the Deerwood Golf Course. You won’t be disappointed!

Keep ’em Swangin’

Golf is a demanding game. You have to keep at it before you’re truly good at it. To become truly proficient, you have to hit the golf course. Yet the golf course isn’t solely the domain of the golf aficionados that eagerly practice every aspect of their game as often as possible in order to improve as much as they can. The golf course also belongs to those who just like or love golf in a relaxing kind of way.

All and all, as corny as it sounds, the golf course is for everyone (see, I told you I wouldn’t say anything cringe worthy, I didn’t say anything about being corny). And it’s a good thing then that Buffalo Niagara has a lot of great golf courses that’ll satisfy the needs of all golfers, whether they are professionals looking to improve their skills, or people to just use golf as a way to relax.

The bottom line is that if you have an interest in golf in the Buffalo Niagara region, there’s a golf course for you.
