No one wants to go to the gym. I know that’s a shocking statement giving the title of the piece, but by golly it’s true. People don’t wake up first thing in the morning and say to themselves, before their fully awake with a big smile on their face, “man I can’t wait to go to the gym!” No, that doesn’t happen (unless you own a gym and the more people you see in there grunting and groaning means more money in your pocket; but that’s another case entirely). The truth is people who go to the gym regularly do it with one goal in mind … results. That’s a broad term admittedly but it just means someone who goes to the gym consistently is doing it in the hopes of seeing or feeling an actual change in their body for whatever reason whether it be personal, professional, or somewhere in between. So know that I have told you the truth about why people actually go to the gym (a truth that is supposed to never be told to the public at the risk of angering the gym gods. I may be punished for my transgression, but you fine readers are worth it nonetheless).

You know in the movies whenever they show people in LA 9 out of 10 times everybody’s ripped and shiny under the California sun? Do you want to look like that? If the answer is yes, all I can say to you is you’ve got a long way to go, but LA Fitness has the tools and resources necessary to get you to that point if you’re willing to dedicate yourself. From pools, if you want to get in some cardio by way of the water, to standard stuff like a full weight rack including dumbbells EZ bars, and whatever else your heavy lifting heart may desire, to a sauna for when you want to relax after testing your muscles to the limit. LA Fitness has everything you need to transform yourself into one of those suntanned ripped people you see in the movies. All you need is two things: the will to go, and the will to stick to it until you get the results you want!

Terrie’s is a great gym with all the necessities needed to get a complete gym workout- weights, slam balls treadmills, and the list goes on. However despite Terrie’s standing as a great gym, that’s not the part of Terrie’s I’d like to focus on because beyond it being a gym it’s also a great boxing club. You’d be surprised how many gyms lack boxing equipment as well as class. It’s as if most places stop at heavy bag and call it a day. This is a shame because equipment like the speed bag is both a great workout for your shoulders and a great cardio workout as well. Not to mention that taking boxing lessons and learning about “The Sweet Science” not only will give you confidence along with the fundamentals of how to protect yourself, but also instill in you the fundamentals of how to train properly by teaching you breathe control and how to best connect mind-muscle movements. So if you’re looking for something a little different than your regular gym-going experience, or you grew up watching Rocky as a kid, give Terrie’s Workout Center a try!

As a disclaimer, if a gym has a piece of heavy equipment as part of its title, that gym focuses on giving people strength. Hence Kenmore “Barbell” and Fitness. According to their site, their mission statement is “to design a workout regimen for athletes of all levels. Whether you’re just starting your fitness journey or looking to be competitive in a strength sport”. Whatever your reason for walking through those doors, maybe one thing is for sure, you’ll be stronger when you walk out of them!

Look, going to the gym is a pain. There’s no way around it.
