Hit the Slopes While You Can

There’s still a lot of snow outside. You know what that means? It means it’s still a great time to go shred through the snow on some skies. Come on, grab your one-piece snowsuit that makes you look like a Bond villian on vacation (Those goggle things are optional if you want to look extra menacing or keep the snow out of your eyes. If you want to be boring, use them as intended). And let’s see what’s available for the ski enthusiast in the Buffalo Niagara area; let’s get to it!

Holiday Valley

Holiday Valley

If you want a complete ski experience with all the bells and whistle‘s I suggest you definitely check out Holiday Valley because the question isn’t what do they have, but rather what don’t they have. Here’s a taste of some of the things they have available: Lift Tickets and hours so you don’t have to go trudging through different spots in the snow to get where you want to go. Ski lessons for beginners as well as experienced skiers who are just looking to brush up on their skills. Ski rentals as well as repairs, so whether you don’t have skis or you realized before hitting a particularly dangerous slope that you didn’t have the right skis, you’re covered before you just say “what the heck, how did that happen?” and their peeling you off the snow while your mumbling to yourself that you have to get Mr. Bond. The fact that they do repairs as well is a bonus.

So if you’re looking for a true skiing experience head on over to Holiday Valley, where all your skiing needs would be taken care of!

Kissing Bridge

Kissing Bridge

Everybody knows about Kissing Bridge. Everybody knows about how romantic it is, but people tend to forget it’s not just a place to chill out for a date while drinking hot chocolate and exchanging smooches with your partner. It’s actually a place to go skiing and a damn fine place at that. Let’s kick this off by saying Kissing Bridge has 39 slopes spread out over 700 acres. That’s a lot of space to shred through some snow! There’s also a daily slope report so you know exactly what to expect before you even set foot on a slope, and they even offer snowboard lessons along with ski lessons in case you are one of those brave souls that want to master the slopes in two completely different ways. Whatever your reason for coming to Kissing Bridge, maybe, at the end of the day you’ll get the same result, A whole lot of fun!

Holimount

Holimount

So you wanna be a part of America‘s largest ski club huh? You don’t just want to ski, you want to look elegant while you’re doing it (you know I was just joking when I made that crack about hitting the slopes looking like a Bond villain, but if you join Holimount you might actually run into one). A great thing about Holimount is it really doesn’t matter when you go, because they’ll always have plenty of snow regardless, due to their use of their patented snowmaking system that creates 700 vertical feet of wall-to-wall, top-to-bottom snow.

Combine that with an average of 200 inches of natural snow per season, and you’ve got the makings of a good time whenever you decide to go. On top of that, they also have 56 custom trails with steep slopes that are well revered since they allow you to get a beautiful scenic view of Ellicottville and all that surrounds it. So if you’re looking to take your skiing experience to the next level Holimount is definitely not a bad choice.

Buffalo Ski Center/Buffalo Ski Club

Buffalo Ski Center/Buffalo Ski Club

Buffalo Ski Center/Buffalo Ski Club brings together three ski areas — Sitzmarker Ski Club, Ski Tamarack, and Buffalo Ski Club—and covers 300 acres with 43 trails ranging in terrain from expert to beginner. The area is serviced by two chair lifts, two t-bars, and two handle lifts. Both stationary and mobile snowmaking guns can cover most of the area that Mother Nature just didn’t have the time for. That’s a lot of skiing on offer, but if you know about The Buffalo Ski Center, you’d expect nothing less from the area’s closest, most affordable, and most family-friendly skiing and snowboarding facility. So go see what all the talk is about and check out the Buffalo Ski Center; you won’t be disappointed!

Peak ‘n Peak

Peak ‘n Peak

Ok, I’m going to make this one short because trust me it’s not a hard sale. Imagine a fine hotel equipped with fine dining, pools, a spa, and add to that an excellent skiing experience that includes all the bells and whistles that you might find in an upscale skiing resort and you’ll have a good idea of what Peak ‘n Peak is like!

Bristol Mountain

Bristol Mountain

Considered by many to be the premier winter resort in the Finger Lakes, Bristol Mountain has 38 slopes and trails that are breathtaking and provide a variety of inclines for every skier and snowboarder from beginner to expert. They even have lighting on 97% of the trails so you can still shred it up in the nighttime. They also offer great children’s programs so even the youngsters can get on the slopes with confidence in no time. And to be honest, that’s only scratching the surface of what Bristol Mountain has to offer. To get a full picture you’re going to have to go there!

For the Love of Skiing

Nothing beats the thrill of skiing. The momentum you gather as you slide through the snow makes you feel weightless—almost invincible—like you’ve achieved some sort of mastery over Mother Nature. If you’ve been chomping at the bit to go skiing for a while, hopefully this list gave you some great suggestions so you can get on the slopes and start shredding as soon as possible because there just isn’t a feeling like shredding through the snow; it’s one of a kind!
