Don’t let the chilly weather get to you

Live Your Best Life, Even When it’s Below Zero

We’re in that weird time of year where it’s the middle of winter and it’s so cold you get a brain freeze just by thinking about going outside. Not to mention all that snow out there that makes walking two blocks feel like traversing Mount Everest. Yet despite the cold and the snow, there’s still fun to be had this season! What, you don’t believe me? You’d rather stay home blast the heat and get your home so hot you give the local sauna a run for its money?

Look I understand the temptation, but life is meant to be lived and fun is meant to be had (plus your heat bill will be insane, trust me you’ll thank me later). So let’s explore what kinds of fun are out there this winter season!

Aquarium of Niagara

Aquarium of Niagara

It may be cold outside, but that doesn’t mean that all the wonderful creatures in the Aquarium of Niagara don’t come out for a swim! Enjoy the opportunity for participants to play with penguins, where they will be met by an educator who will tell all about the Aquariums Humboldt penguins and their unique personalities. Then you will be able to choose from various items to create a unique enrichment experience for the penguins. And finally, meet with an animal trainer, and watch as they add your design to the penguin’s exhibit.

Also, get interactive at the touching pool, where you can touch sharks and stingrays! The exhibit also includes art and graphics highlighting each species’ role in a healthy ocean ecosystem and the importance of conserving essential coastal habitats such as mangroves and lagoons. So on top of it being a fun hands-on experience (with COVID-19 appropriate safety guidelines in place), it’s an educational one as well. So if you’re looking for a more aquatic route to get some of the old winter boredom out of you, the Niagara Aquarium is a great choice!

Buffalo Museum of Science

Buffalo Museum of Science

Do you fancy yourself a bit of the Indiana Jones type? I’m not asking if you like to rock a brown fedora and are petrified by snakes. No I’m asking if you like to learn about the past, and in this case the past of Buffalo Niagara! If your answer is yes, then you should definitely check out the Buffalo Museum of Science! A significant part of the Museum’s collection of more than 700,000 specimens pertain to the Greater Niagara Region and form, by far, the most complete record of life in all of its forms in this area in anthropology, botany, entomology, mycology, paleontology, and zoology. They provide a good representation of the present and past natural history of the Niagara Frontier of New York and adjacent Ontario, as well as material of worldwide provenance of value in teaching, exhibition, and research.

So whether you’re a bona fide archaeologist looking to uncover hidden secrets about Buffalo Niagara’s past, or you’re just an extremely curious person that wants to brush up on their local history, the Buffalo Museum of Science is a great place to brush up on all aspects of Buffalo Niagara’s past. Whether that be from a historical aspect or scientific aspects, and everything in between!

Skiing at Kissing Bridge

Skiing at Kissing Bridge

Do I have to explain the appeal of Kissing Bridge? It’s in the title! It’s romantic and not to mention fun as all get out this time of year where the air is bone-chilling and the snow is plentiful. If you’re wondering why this place didn’t need much of a description go see it for yourself.

CEPA Gallery

CEPA Gallery

Located in Buffalo’s historic Market Arcade Complex, CEPA Gallery is a contemporary photography and visual arts center with impact in both local and national communities. With three galleries of changing exhibits and events, multimedia public art installations, arts education programs, and an open-access darkroom and digital photo lab, the CEPA Gallery isn’t just the cutting edge way to experience photography in all its beauty, it’s also an extremely inclusive place for photographers to hone their skills. So if you have even an inkling of interest in photography, give the CEPA Gallery a shot.

Do you have a partner that loves and appreciates items from a bygone era? Do certain rooms in their home resemble more museums than living spaces? If so, consider getting a gift from coocoou! Coocoou has an assortment of antiques to choose from ranging from furniture, lighting, art, decor, and much much more. They have reputable sellers so you never feel like you’re in the middle of getting swindled during a less than respectable deal. It’s all professional and it’s all above board. So if you’re looking to add a nice knickknack to your partner’s already large collection of antiques, maybe give Coocoou a try!

Niagara Falls State Park

Niagara Falls State Park

You know what never takes a rest no matter how cold it is? One of the Seven Wonders Of The World! Yes while you and I may dread getting out of bed during a cold winter morning, Niagara Falls keeps going without fault no matter what time or weather condition it is. So if you’re looking for some motivation, or you just want to admire the beauty of Niagara Falls. Why not go visit the Niagara Falls State Park, they’ve even got hiking trails and restaurants if you’re looking to do a little bit more than gaze at the Falls (although considering how cold it is, I don’t know why anyone would want to go on a trail. If you want my advice, I’d just stick with the restaurants). Whatever you choose to do at the Niagara Falls State Park, one thing is for sure, it’s going to be fun!

Plenty of Indoor & Outdoor Cold-Weather Fun

Winter can be such a pain. The cold weather makes the simple act of breathing sometimes a chore. Yet you shouldn’t let the cold stop you from getting out there and having fun. Remember the cold only last a few months but fun is always present provided you look for it.
