Go Fishing With the Pros

You’ve experienced the elation (and frustration) of fishing by yourself. It’s all well and good to kill a few hours with some buddies, have a few drinks, some laughs, come home with a guppy or two and pretend it’s a prize catch. It’s a good time, but it’s gotten kind of stale. Every time you go it’s always the same spot, the same fish. Even that plonking noise you always thought was so great and signaled that you were ready to go has become dull. Most of the time, while your friends are drinking, you just look at your worm bait, not even bothering to put it in the water because you’re too busy asking existential questions (why are you the worm and I’m the man? If the roles were reversed would I be on the hook? Or no matter what we do are we all on the hook in this world?) You eventually snap out of it and maybe catch another guppy or two, but everything’s just the same.

You need a change.

You need to go out further in the water with some real pros that actually know what they’re doing instead of your friends drinking all the beer and wildly swinging the fishing line. It’s time to go with a fishing charter company! And I don’t want to hear any of that macho “I’m not going with any fishing charter; I’ll do my own fishing, thank you very much” stuff. Up to this point, you’ve gotten your own results, which are close to zilch-nada. So, if you’re ready to take your fishing experience to the next level, let’s look into what exactly fishing charters in Buffalo Niagara are all about!

Find a Charter that Works for You

A fishing charter, by definition, is “an excursion service offered by boat owners and professional fishers which brings guests out onto a body of water for a set period in hopes of catching fish.” Keywords, there are “hopes of catching fish”. It’s not as if going with a charter will instantly land you a king salmon, but I promise you your chances of getting something better than a sunfish will significantly improve. Just imagine it for a moment, will you? You’ve decided on the fishing charter that works for you. You have all your gear, and so do your friends (and you’ve made sure to let everyone know not to give beer to Ted after he’s had his first one, NO MATTER HOW MUCH HE MAY WANT ANOTHER. This is for real this time. We’re in front of pros, so let’s try our best to act like pros as well).

The captain of the boat greets you and your friends. There are one or two other fishermen. You instantly become a little embarrassed/self-conscious because they’re wearing those cool fishing jackets with the different lines and baits and stuff resembling something like Batman’s utility belt with the fashion sensibilities of the Gorton’s fisherman. You just have an unorganized tackle box you got from Amazon (it has Koi fish on the front. You liked it because it felt Zen. You don’t even fully understand what Zen means, but you know it sounds cool when you say it in your head. “Zen. Oh yeah, that sounds awesome. How many times do I have to repeat this before I become enlightened?”). The other fishermen are friendly and don’t say anything about you and your friends being the poster children for “amateur-hour fishing”. They just smile and give you one of those handshakes that feel like a vice grip is crushing every bone in your hand into powder and show you to the front of the boat where the fishing will take place.

Some Charter Hospitality

Sitting on the chair that’s been provided for you as you swing your fishing line over the front of that boat and hear that plonking noise, your once again elated by the mere act of going fishing! But wait, something else unexpected but nonetheless incredible has happened to our friends as well. They’re not drinking (or at least not yet they’re not). Not even Ted has asked for his first beer (good on you, Ted). No, they’re too busy asking a host of questions to the captain and enjoying the water. The captain teaches you all how to do proper arks and such things, so even if Ted does get drunk in the future, the chances of him poking someone’s eye out are much, much lower.

And as for yourself, you no longer look at the worm on your line and ask existential questions. You just put the damn thing on the line and throw that sucker in because YOU WANT TO CATCH SOME FISH! And as it becomes dark and your time on the charter is up, even though you haven’t caught anything all day, and as your friends step off the boat, you feel a smile slowly creep onto your face and at that moment Ted says to you stone-cold sober “So when can we do this again?”
