Even though life nowadays seems to be full of uncertainties, that doesn’t mean you have to give up on the prospect of summer fun under the sun

With all that’s been going on in this wild world, it’s easy to forget that we’re knee deep in summer. Granted it’s probably going to be the most abnormal summer in recent memory with all the safety precautions in place, but regardless, the suns out and people are bored. So here’s a few distractions in our great region that’ll hopefully make your summer an enjoyable one.

Explore Buffalo

Explore Buffalo offers a variety of outdoor tours of the city ranging from the American Masters tour, which focuses on the buildings created at the turn of the 20th century from the likes of Louis Sullivan & Dankmar Adler, Daniel Burnham & Co., and Richard Upjohn, to Crime Tours such as Scandalous Buffalo and The Allentown Mob Tour focusing on the cities seedy underbelly of a bygone era.

Experience Buffalo’s unique architectural and historical legacy with the expert volunteers of Explore Buffalo, dedicated to providing the city’s friendliest and best informed tours by foot, bike, bus, and kayak

Explore Buffalo also offers bike tours ranging in different locales from the Pocket Parks & Green Spaces to The Waterfront. So with the affordable admission fees and the prospect of some good cardio while you soak up some of the city’s history, Explore Buffalo is more than worth your time.

Rainbow Air

If you’re looking for a tour with a bit more aerial view in it, try Rainbow Air! As they confidently put it: “Your limousine to the sky awaits you!” Rainbow Air, located at 454 Main St, Niagara Falls, NY provides passengers with a thrilling experience of viewing the Niagara and Horseshoe Falls from the lowest and closest point possible, and their scenic tours are lower and closer than any aerial tour operator in the area!

Enjoy the majestic power and beauty of the Falls from the air with Rainbow Air helicopter tours. Longer flights and charter flights are available by reservation.

Rainbow Air tours include such sights as Niagara and Horseshoe Falls, along with The Rainbow Bridge, American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Goat Island, Queen Victoria Park, Clifton Hill, and the American Observation Tour – among many others. So if you’re looking for a bit of an adrenaline fix, this might be just the thing for you!

Aquarium Of Niagara

Aquarium Of Niagara is now open to the public at 25% capacity. Sadly this means that interactive exhibits, shows, and animal encounters are unavailable, but Aquarium Of Niagara still has a medley of educational events and classes that are definetly worth a look, such as The Sea Lion Virtual Enrichment Session in which you’ll be able to watch a California Sea Lion make an artistic masterpiece remotely, while staff members teach you of the many benefits this artistic expression has on the sea lion’s overall health. There’s even a raffle where a lucky winner gets to take a charming piece of aquatic art home!

Spend the day under the sea with penguins, turtles, rescued seals and colorful corals at the Aquarium of Niagara

The Aquarium of Niagara also offers The Virtual Jr. Vet: Pinnipeds, where participants learn through a video conference interview with one of the onsite vets, what it takes to take care of Pinnipeds (better known as seals) as well as sea lions. If you ever had an inkling of what being an aquatic vet is like, this is a great chance to find out.

Go exploring

Even though life nowadays seems to be full of uncertainties, that doesn’t mean you have to give up on the prospect of summer fun. If the sun can still get high in the sky and beam its wonderful rays upon us, you too can find elements of enjoyment in this trying time. You just have to look, and I hope this list of possible diversions sets you down a path for a bit more happiness!
