Mother’s Day 2019
Picture this: It’s almost Mother’s Day and you don’t have a gift picked out for your mom yet. In the past, you’ve gotten her flowers, jewelry, gadgets, and maybe even one of those fancy fruit-flower arrangements. This year you want to do something new and special that will wow her and truly communicate how much she means to you.
Need Ideas?
Instead of buying her something, why not treat her to an experience that you can share together? Memories are the treasures that your mom will hold onto far longer than an out-of-style blouse or a broken watch. Need some ideas? We’ve got you covered. Here are seven different situations for you to spend quality time with your mom in Buffalo Niagara.
Have a spa day at Excuria
Relaxation is one of the most precious gifts you could ever give your mom! At Excuria Salon and Spa, you can treat your mom to a Swedish massage, manicure, pedicure, body wrap, facial, herbal steam shower, or a cut-and-color. There are many packages to choose from. If you want to go all-out, you might consider trying the “Spa Full Day Retreat” package, which includes a soothing herbal shower, Swedish massage, Excuria Signature facial, lunch, manicure and pedicure, blow dry styling, and makeup. Your mom will leave feeling like a new woman!

Create pottery together at Artyard Studio
You’ve thought of flowers, but how about the vase? Classes at Artyard studio are small and intimate, with a wheel for each aspiring artist. Don’t worry if you’re a beginner- you will receive instruction on all of the basics during class. You’ll learn how to center your clay as well as how to throw, trim and glaze. Each session is one-and-a-half to three hours long, so you will have plenty of time to catch up with your mom! Visit www.artyardstudio.com for more information.
Get your fresh on at the Elmwood Village Farmer’s Market.
Visit the Elmwood Village Farmer’s Market
Here you’ll find 45 vendors and a wide range of products, including brews, wines, european sausage, baked goods, maple syrup, and gourmet dog treats- just to name a few! The market also hosts musicians, cooking demonstrations and other special performances. Best of all, the market is located in a beautiful tree-lined park designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, so it’s a scenic place well-suited for a sunny spring day. The market runs every Saturday from mid-May to the end of November, from 8am to 1pm. Located at Bidwell Parkway in Elmwood Village. Visit www.elmwoodmarket.org for more information.
Stay home and look at photo albums
If you’re on a budget this year, nothing beats getting comfortable at home and reminiscing with your mom. Sometimes we get so swept up in the busyness of life and trying to make memories that we forget to stop and appreciate the time we’ve already spent together. Looking at old photos is a great way to make conversation as well as learn a thing or two from each other. You might just realize something about your mom that you never knew before!
Reminisce over happy memories with the fam!
Thank You, Moms!
Now that you have a few ideas for making the most of this Mother’s Day, take some time now to discern what your mom would enjoy the most. Would she like getting pampered at a spa, or would she prefer getting messy at the art studio? Does she like to shop or is she a homebody? A gift means the most to someone when she can tell that you’ve put some thought into it. On the other hand, don’t get overwhelmed by all the choices, and don’t worry if your day doesn’t go exactly as planned. While your mom will appreciate you honoring her, simply spending time with you is what matters the most. Remember that Mother’s Day is just one day, and she’s looking forward to spending many more days with you! To all the moms out there: Happy Mother’s Day! Thank you for everything that you do. Your love truly makes the world a better place, and here in Buffalo Niagara we are all the better for it.
