New Year’s Resolution Time

Another New Year has begun and with the promise of new possibilities comes the desire to make positive changes for a healthier, happier, and more enriched year ahead. And while the idea of a New Year’s resolution may have already faded by now it’s never a bad time to hit the reset button and start again.

Read More Books

In this fast-paced world it can be easy to forget to sit down and tune out the chaos by picking up a good old-fashioned book. You know, those things with a binding and pages that have words and thoughts in them? While we appreciate modern advances in reading platforms, there’s just nothing that can compare to flipping tangible pages of a book. Kindles can’t hold a flame to the real thing!  Our favorite spots to pick up good books are Talking Leaves…Books in Erie County and Old Editions Book & Print Shop in Niagara County. Whether you plan on reading a new book once a week, once a month, or just want to read more books in general, these reading oases are the perfect spots to pick up a new book or two!

Take a look it’s in a book!

Winter Buddha Bowls with fresh ingredients make for the perfect healthy lunch.

Eat Healthier Lunches

Sure it’d be great if you could make every meal a healthy one, but science has proven that setting more realistic goals will keep you motivated to achieve them. I am not someone who is organized enough to make lunch at home which is why I appreciate that Farmers & Artisans has healthy options that come in reasonable portions. I love their ginger quinoa, Buddha bowls, and their fresh salads! They also have fresh produce straight from the farm year ‘round so you can pick up something for a healthy dinner to make at home, too.

Learn Something New About Your Local History

We are very fortunate to live in an area as rich in history as Buffalo Niagara. The Buffalo History Museum is a great place to soak up local history that makes this area so unique.  And if you really want to dig dip into this area’s history check out Old Fort Niagara. The history of Old Fort Niagara spans more than 300 years. So you’re bound to learn something new!  In order to know where you’re going in 2019, and in general, it’s good to know where you came from. And there’s no better way to learn about your local history than these two historical gems.

Take a trip back in time at Old Fort Niagara.

Get Fit

New Year same resolution! Year after year we all commit to working out more. But then life happens or we feel too self conscious about working out at a gym, or we simply get bored doing the same mundane routine and not seeing many results. That’s why this year we want to check out BikeOrBar in the heart of Elmwood Village. Cycling is proven to give amazing results and it’s fast-paced and fun so you don’t get bored. Along with cycling, BikeOrBar also offers Barre classes, Indoor Rowing, and Anti-Gravity Yoga classes just to name a few. Now, doesn’t that sound fun?!

Treat Yourself

While working out, eating healthy, and stimulating your mind are all great ways to push yourself in 2019, sometimes it’s good to just relax and take it easy. Self care includes relaxation once in awhile. And what better way to relax than a luxurious massage or manicure at Excuria Salon & Spa? Maybe you get that haircut you’ve been neglecting or put your best face forward and get a facial. Or hey, maybe you get the works. I mean 2018 was one heck of a year; you deserve it, darling! Whatever you decide would best serve your pampering needs, Excuria provides the expertise, calm environment, and relaxing ambiance to fulfill all of your self-care needs in 2019.

Pamper yourself in 2019.
