Eating Apples in Buffalo Niagara
It’s officially October, which means it’s apple season! Apples not only keep the doctor away, they are also the quintessential Fall fruit. Can you imagine Fall without apple cider and apple pie?! In this blog, I’ll explore some of the ways apples make our days during the Fall months and where to go if you’re a fellow apple enthusiast.
DiCamillo Bakery
DiCamillo Bakery has all sorts of Fall treats. While their pumpkin cookies are famous, we also love their Apple Nests. These delicious apple pastries will remind you and your tastebuds why apples are Fall’s favorite fruit.

Apples straight from Blackman Farms to Farmers & Artisans.
Farmers & Artisans
You already know that Farmers & Artisans has fresh, local produce year-round. But you might be pleased to hear that this year they’re doing an Apple & Pear Share! This is a wonderful way to enjoy a deal on this season’s apple and pear crops. The share will consist of 10 one peck (10 lb.) bags of Blackman Farm apples and pears. This will be a rolling share, so you can pick up and fill your bag as you need them. Just bring your peck bag into the store, select from the crates, and mix and match varieties. You can fill out your Apple & Pear share form here.
The Village Bake Shoppe
I’d be a complete fool to write a blog about apples and why they make Fall better, and not mention Apple Pie. The Apple Pies from The Village Bake Shoppe are massive and oh so delicious. The crumble on top is so good it could be a dessert all by itself! Try a slice in house or take a pie home and have it a la mode with a little ice cream on the side.
Oh, my! That’s a lot of Apple Pie!
Cheers to Fall with a Red Barn cider from BlackBird Cider Works.
BlackBird Cider Works
Not only do apples give us tasty baked goods they also give us some pretty delicious beverages! Whomever the genius was that decided to make cider into hard cider, we applelause you! BlackBird Cider Works’ primary focus is making premiere craft cider. They not only have amazing cider but their location in Barker has stunning views of Lake Ontario. All of their ciders are tasty, but lately I’ve been digging their Red Barn Farm Style Hard Cider. It has hints of apricots, which I really enjoy. I am looking forward to their Buffalo location opening Friday, October 19!
The Terrace at Delaware Park
If you really like cider you should definitely check out Cider Fest at The Terrace at Delaware Park on October 13th. This festival will feature local ciders and ciders from around the country. Along with cider there will be vendors from Farmers’s Markets, fresh baked goods and homemade sausages. This family-friendly festival is the perfect way to get into the Fall spirit and a great way to appreciate the bounty of our favorite Fall fruit.
Without apples, we wouldn’t have hard cider!
Becker Farm apples just waiting to be picked!
Becker Farms
It’s hard to talk about apples in the Fall and not mention apple picking at Becker Farms. With a variety of apples to choose from, Becker Farms has an apple for everyone! After a long day of picking apples, enjoy their apple cider or a homemade brew. Grab an apple pie to take home and don’t forget to check the schedule before coming in to make sure your favorite apples are available! You can get the full scoop on apple picking at Becker Farms here.
So pumpkins, take a back seat because today we are celebrating apples! It just wouldn’t be Fall without apples and all the places that make them into delicious treats and beverages. And the great thing about apples is that they are perfect and delicious just the way they are. An apple picked from the tree can stand by itself! So thank you, apples for being Fall’s favorite fruit.
